It's almost here! The Greater Austin Comic Con 2018 will be held for two days in HEB Center at Cedar Park, Texas. As always it promises to deliver a lot of activities including meet and greets with famous actors and artists, CosPlay costumes, on-the-spot sketches from comic book artists, and the chance to buy cool merchandise.

Joining this year’s event are giants of their respective industries. Kevin Sorbo, the actor who played the TV version of Hercules, and Walter Jones, the Black Ranger who harnessed the power of the Mastodon, will be attendance to answer fan questions. Doug Jones from this year’s Best Picture: Shape of Water--, John Wesley Shipp, the original The Flash and father of Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen in The Flash TV series, and Melody Anderson (Flash Gordon, Dead and Buried), will join many others in celebrating this year’s event.

Alongside the celebrities, a lot of talented artists will attend the 2018 comic con event. Among the confirmed participants are Jason Parrott who is known for his work on Planet X: The Annunaki Wars, and Texan-born Davy Jones who writes and illustrates the comic strip Charmy's Army. Comic book illustrator Carlo Barberi who has drawn several Batman and X-Men comics will also be a part of this year's event.

Of course, Comic Con would not be complete without CosPlayers giving life to comic book and video game characters. We will be looking for great costumes in the same vain as Jimmy "Ronin Cozplay" who has CosPlayed as Wolverine, and San Antonio-based Miss Madison who has CosPlayed several video game characters in the past.

It is not known yet what games are lined up for comic con participants, but there should be plenty given the long history of comic cons in Texas. Past Greater Austin Comic Cons have featured sweepstakes and contests rewarding winners with cool merchandise and action figures.

Pop culture has a special place in Texas due to its rich video game history. This is where the classics Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, and Deus Ex were developed. Of course, it should come as no surprise that Texas is one of the USA’s top states for the gaming industry. This is the state that the most famous casino card game in the world, Texas Hold 'Em was created. With gaming being in Texan’s blood, Austin Comic Con 2018 promises huge surprises and prizes for attendees of the June 16 – 17 event.

The Greater Austin Comic Con 2018 was preceded by the Wizard World Comic Con in 2017. A lot of things happened at the event, and Center Stage Magazine was there firsthand to cover the affair and interview the likes of the original Incredible Hulk Lou Ferrigno and renowned CosPlayer Ivy Doomkitty.

Tickets to the event are now available at the Heb Center website. For more information and updates on the event, visit the Greater Austin Comic Con 2018’s official website. VIP tickets are sold separately, and those who want to purchase one can get exclusive comic con prints, shirts, and meet-and-greet sessions with some of the celebrities.

About Missy Wolf

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
