We're excited to bring our viewers the exclusive KP Hawthorn's latest offering, the single "High Road" (featuring Rosie Flores on lead guitar), a track that is as evocative as a sun-scorched frontier horizon. Pulled from her forthcoming full-length album 'Til the Glitter End', this Western-themed epic captures the raw essence of America's pioneering spirit, complete with moral ambiguities and unyielding heroism.
At its core, "High Road" is a narrative powerhouse, transporting listeners back to the tumultuous days of the early railroad boom—when the Wild West was at its wildest, and survival often trumped sanctity. Sung from the vantage point of a resolute figure who chooses the path of righteousness, standing tall for the marginalized and voiceless, the song masterfully intertwines poignant lyrics with instrumental prowess. Adding a layer of legendary flair is the iconic Rosie Flores on guitar, whose strings infuse the track with an authentic twang that echoes across canyons and plains. It's an anthem that resonates with themes of honor, resilience, and justice, blending Hawthorn's evocative storytelling with top-tier musicianship to create something truly timeless.
Hawthorn herself sheds light on the song's origins in a candid reflection: "High Road started as a composition that I was asked to write for a movie—'The Lone Ranger.' While the song did not end up in the film, it was really fun to write. I got to dig into so many visually descriptive lines, and it helped me picture the early west and the construction of the first railroads. It really came alive to me. I imagine that in those early days of American expansion, there had to be just as much corruption as there is today, and possibly even more diabolical. The ones who held up their standards probably stood out as real heroes. I’m sure they actually existed!"
This single isn't arriving in isolation; it's part of a broader rollout for 'Til the Glitter End', a captivating collection of re-imagined recordings that showcase Hawthorn's versatility. Among the highlights is a fresh take on Led Zeppelin's classic "Going to California," reinterpreted through her unique lens. The album, "Glitter," exemplifies the project's collaborative spirit: produced by Hawthorn alongside Steve Berns, it was laid down at Nashville's Fitting Room Studio. Backed by a stellar lineup of East Nashville talent—including Ted Pecchio on upright bass, Chris Benelli handling drums and percussion, and Johnny Hawthorn shredding on electric guitars—the band weaves a sun-kissed California dream-pop backdrop for their Americana roots. The result? A sonic palette that's sweetly glazed and dusted with shimmering gold.
