Electric Night at The Mill: Them Dirty Roses Light Up Nashville

If you were anywhere near The Mill last Friday night (October 4, 2024), you would have felt the ground rumble with the raw energy of Them Dirty Roses. The venue was packed to the rafters, the air thick with anticipation. When the lights went down, the roar from the crowd was deafening, setting the stage for what would be an unforgettable night. Them Dirty Roses did not just meet expectations; they shattered them with a performance that felt like a revival of rock's golden days.

"It’s always a party with TDR! For me, much more than that. It’s truly a spiritual journey to a place where there’s nothing but cool vibes, kick-ass tunes and all being just right in the world." Bobby Hatfield (TDR Fan and show attendee)

The setlist was a masterful blend of their gritty Southern rock roots with dashes of unexpected influences, showcasing their latest EP 'Lost in the Valley of Hate and Love' to spectacular effect. Lead guitarist Andrew Davis was a sight to behold, his fingers dancing over the strings of what looked like a vintage Les Paul, channeling the spirits of rock heroes past while carving his own niche. The chemistry among the band members, especially the Ford brothers, was palpable, creating a tight, dynamic sound that filled The Mill with rock 'n' roll thunder.

The crowd was a sea of bouncing heads and raised fists. The vibe was infectious, from the seasoned rockers nodding along in approval to the younger fans experiencing true rock show magic for the first time. Despite the packed house, there was a sense of unity, as if everyone there was part of a secret society celebrating the return of real rock music.

"Great live band! The show was high energy from their opening song. Fans enjoyed the songs they love including "Holly Roller" and new songs like "Candle in the Dark", and "All Good in the Neighborhood". James had the crowd fired up and the guitar was smoking with the right mix of driving rock and tone. The drums and bass were powerful and the band just tore it up with their "Whipping Post" cover. The 3 song encore included "Cocaine and Whiskey", a crowd favorite that had the whole room singing. Great end to a fabulous show! Their songwriting along with James' unique delivery is what made us fans, and we are heading to the Shed later this month to see them again" ~Lisa Baird

Leaving The Mill that night, one couldn't help but feel they had witnessed something special. Them Dirty Roses did not just play a gig; they ignited a movement, reminding Nashville—and the world—that Southern rock is not just alive, it is thriving. If you missed this, keep an eye out; Them Dirty Roses are not a band to sleep on. They are the real deal, breathing life into a genre that is theirs for the taking. If you have not yet started following Them Dirty Roses, what are you waiting for? ~Missy

About Missy Wolf

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
