Meeting new artists is always an exciting time for the staff here at Center Stage Magazine. Just before the holidays, we were given the opportunity to meet with up and coming artist Robert Rooke.
As soon as I took a moment to listen to his music, read up on his background, and check out his social media, I knew we were going to have a lot to talk about. The minute we were in the same room together, we immediately started comparing notes on terms people use all over the world as Rooke is from Canada, I am from California, and Tommy Lemon is from West Virginia, yet we were all in Nashville, Tennessee. Needless to say, we all laughed quite a bit.
The laughing did not stop there. There were several fun moments in our interview and one that I just did not see coming. Who would have ever thought that a photo on social media could lead to such an interesting and entertaining story? Rooke definitely has a personality that attracts others. He has the ability to make anyone he is with to feel like they have been friends for years, so I can only imagine that watching him on stage is an extremely special experience for fans. His new EP The Road captures Rooke's strong vocals and superior songwriting skills. His song "Don't Take This" instantly caught my attention as it was a different view on one of life's many challenges that I think others can really relate to. Rooke also pays tribute to his musical influences by incorporating hints of them throughout his work. John Mayer, for one, should be proud. Keep your eyes on this guy. Rooke is no doubt one artist that should be on everyone's playlist in 2018.
