Conversations with Missy: Bryan White
I recently had the pleasure of sitting down (virtually) with famed artist and songwriter Skip Ewing for an episode of Conversations with Missy. What was supposed to be a quick 15-minute Zoom interview turned into something truly special—we both got so caught up in an amazing conversation that I really didn’t want it to end!
Skip was incredibly friendly and engaging from the very first moment. We talked about his exciting new project and the official release of his newest single, “Play On.” The lyric video is available NOW, and I couldn’t be more thrilled for fans to hear it.
Skip’s songwriting legacy is nothing short of legendary. He has penned hits for a who’s-who of country artists, including Collin Raye, Randy Travis, Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, Diamond Rio, and many more. We also touched on how Bryan White scored three consecutive No. 1 hits with “Rebecca Lynn,” “Someone Else’s Star,” and “I’m Not Supposed to Love You Anymore.” Skip shared a fun story about how “I’m Not Supposed to Love You Anymore” was on hold for Bonnie Raitt at the time—Skip joked that it became “the best Bonnie Raitt cut I never got”—but Bryan ultimately recorded it, and it went straight to No. 1. Even today, his songs continue to resonate—most recently with the beautiful duet “Would If I Could,” recorded by ERNEST featuring Lainey Wilson.
Hearing Skip’s stories and insights made the conversation both fun and deeply informative.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful our chat was. Skip’s warmth, wisdom, and passion for music and life shine through, and I’m so excited for everyone to get to know him better through this interview. Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering his work for the first time, you’ll walk away inspired.
Be sure to check out “Play On”—it’s the perfect start to what promises to be an outstanding new chapter for Skip. I’m already looking forward to our next chat once the full album drops! If you love heartfelt country music and great storytelling, this is one interview (and one song) you won’t want to miss. ~Missy
