Ronnie McDowell: A Night of Country Hits and Ronnie McDowell: A Night of Elvis

Ronnie McDowell has come up with a unique way to reach fans of his music: two different show concepts. One is titled Ronnie McDowell: A Night of Country Hits while the second is Ronnie McDowell: A Night of Elvis. He is currently booking both shows now for 2023.

McDowell’s remarkable career really took off after he recorded his self-penned tribute to Elvis Presley titled “The King Is Gone” that was released shortly after Presley’s death. The song became a major hit on both Country and Pop charts, peaking at number thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100 and receiving a Gold Record designation.

He has remained a lifelong devoted fan of Elvis and was even chosen by Priscilla Presley to be the voice of Elvis in several movies and TV specials. In the 1979 made-for-TV biopic titled simply Elvis, Kurt Russell, playing the title role, lip-synched to the vocals provided by McDowell.  His uncannily spot-on Presley vocals were also heard in the TV movie Elvis and the Beauty Queen (1981) and the miniseries Elvis and Me (1988).

Additionally, McDowell has enjoyed a long career as a country recording artist with many of his single becoming Top Ten hits including “Older Women,” “You’re Gonna Ruin My Reputation,” “Watching Girls Go By” and “In A New York Minute.”  His duet with Conway Twitty on a remake of Twitty’s hit “It’s Only Make Believe” charted in ’86 and another popular duet – this time with Jerry Lee Lewis – was 1988’s “You’re Never Too Old to Rock n’ Roll” that McDowell wrote.

His recent projects include an album of beach music titled Ronnie McDowell with Bill Pinkney’s Original Drifters and Ronnie McDowell Country, a collection of six new self-penned songs and his interpretation of a few country standards.

As well as his music career, McDowell is recognized as a talented and successful painter. Many of his paintings have a musical theme, including 2018’s “The Magic Moment.” The painting depicts Elvis as a child, with his parents, as he receives his first guitar at the Tupelo Hardware Store in Tupelo, Mississippi.

And now in 2023, Ronnie McDowell is back on the road with his two unique shows, Ronnie McDowell: A Night of Country Hits and Ronnie McDowell: A Night of Elvis.
