CMA Fest 2018 with Missy: Lockwood Barr
Day two of CMA fest 2017 had many artists excited and thirsting for more. After the success of day one with fan encounters, country artist Lockwood Barr encountered an artist she has been influenced by for years, Ricky Skaggs.
Immediately posting her experience on social media after the chance meeting with Skaggs, I knew that I wanted to talk about that moment with her during our interview behind the scenes in Music City Center.
Lockwood beamed with excitement as she described the moment she met Skaggs in the backstage artist area during day one of the famed Country Music Festival. Not knowing that she was in for a jam session with Skaggs, Barr expressed her level of appreciation for this experience. Having been introduced to Skaggs through her father as a child, Barr and Skaggs were able to share some genuine moments together, artist to artist.
Realizing that fans are to her what she was to Skaggs in that moment, made all of us smile. Barr said it perfectly when she explained that in these moments you realize no one is above each other. I could not help but feel elated for her as I recalled the moment I had with Eddie Stubbs at the Opry the night Skaggs performed. Being able to meet one of your heroes is special, not just for you, but for them as well.
As we continued our conversation, we spoke about new music off her album Signs Along The Road and what it was like creating it. CMA Fest is where it all started and fans have been an integral part of the creation process of the new album. Barr shared that fans were tweeting about the single "Forgotten How To Cry" which brought the most radiant smile to her face.
Discussing her career, successes, fans, and sponsors was a lot of fun, though it was her enthusiasm for giving away a pair of Durango boots along with the excitement she had for the pair of earring given to her that made my day. Nothing beats making someone else happy, and Barr definitely wants to make others happy.
Do yourself a favor and follow this remarkable female vocalist now. Share her music with your friends, and stay tuned for all she has coming up. You will be seeing a lot more of her soon. ~Missy
