Conversations with Missy: Collin Raye

by Missy Wolf / 2667 days ago / Comments

Having the opportunity to have conversations with artists that I respect and adore is one of my biggest dreams come true. Though I have developed a love and respect for each of the artists I have interviewed, there are a few that have a very deep and special meaning to me personally. One of those artists is Collin Raye.

Growing up, I would listen to him in high school and always wished I had the opportunity to meet him and see him at a live performance. Being that my mom was not a fan of country music and I was not allowed to go to concerts without her, I was unable to attend one of his highly talked about performances. To say I was jealous of all my friends is an understatement.

Knowing this opportunity was one that I had dreamt of for so long, I started off my conversation with Raye by telling him exactly that. As we sat in his trailer outside the Franklin Theatre in Franklin, Tennessee, we continued our conversation by talking about Elvis and the 1st Annual Nashville Elvis Festival. Hearing him tell the story of his late mother singing with Elvis as a teenager was exciting and fun. Everyone longs for a good Elvis story, and this one is absolutely fantastic.

Aside from being an Elvis fan himself and sharing stories with other fans, Raye was there to pay tribute to the "King" by singing some of Elvis' greatest hits along with some of his own hit songs. The entire crowd applauded at his tribute to Elvis, and sang along to every song, putting a huge smile on Raye's face. The Franklin Theatre was full of life during this special moment, and I was proud to be able to witness it all as it took place.

Raye shared with me all that he has coming up, including new music and a new tour. His latest project The Big 25 includes 25 of his greatest hits with the addition of three new songs for a total of 28 songs on the compilation. Listen to our full conversation to learn more about this new project, fun facts, fan stories, and more. Trust me, this 20 minute conversation is definitely worth watching.

As always, please follow Raye on social media and stay tuned to his website for all the latest news and updates as they happen. ~Missy

About Missy Wolf

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
