After our fun Three On One with Rick Springfield interview, we were given the opportunity to speak with him on camera backstage at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, Tennessee. Jennifer and Jill are the lovely ladies behind the scenes at the Wildhorse Saloon that made this all happen.
I was excited to speak with them backstage to get some background information on the special performance weekend that has been taking place for 10 years. I asked them what they thought made this show so successful, and if they imagined that it would have lasted this long. Be sure to watch our full conversation to hear more. They were so much fun to speak with, and seemed to genuinely love their experiences with Springfield and his adoring fans.
For the last ten years, Springfield has been performing Valentine's Day shows at the Wildhorse Saloon. This year marked the 10 years and counting celebration. Eager to see his rose shredding performance along with reaching out for some "Human Touch", fans traveled from afar for this intimate show and some even made it a fun girl's weekend.
During my conversation with Springfield, we spoke about this show in particular. I asked him if he ever thought he would be doing it for this long and his answer may surprise you. After re-watching the video myself, it surprised me as well.
Before our interview, I had a chance to speak with some excited fans in the line outside the Wildhorse Saloon. Some were camera shy, though there was a young girl celebrating her 15th birthday that knew every song and lyric and was so happy to share her love for him with us. The smile on her face said it all. She was there to have the best birthday ever, and I am pretty sure she did.
Springfield gives fans a unique experience with his stage performance in addition to offering them special meet and greet opportunities. We spoke to several fans that were participating in the meet and greet, and found some Springfield gold. While speaking to Springfield before the show, we discussed his fans and how loyal they are and have been throughout his career. His gratitude for them was easy to see.
Springfield's talent, energy, raw honesty, brilliant songwriting, personality, and good looks no doubt keep fans coming back for more. I cannot put into words how fantastic his show was. His energy made me jealous, and his vocals captivated me. I was enthralled with his entire performance. I am not sure what I was expecting to witness, though his vocals simply blew me away. Hearing him cover Katy Perry and Taylor Swift also shocked me in that not only was I not expecting him to sing either of those two songs, I cannot stop hearing him sing them in my head. His delivery of them was solid.
If you have the chance to see Springfield perform live, go. I encourage each of you to attend a show at the Wildhorse Saloon next year if the opportunity comes. You will not want to miss out on such a phenomenal time. Maybe I will even see you there. ~Missy
