A Night at the Rock Quarry with Ty Herndon, Anita Cochran and Lulu Roman

As a writer for Center Stage Magazine and host of Conversations with Missy, I have met many remarkable artists, PR professionals, managers, agents, fans and venue owners. After launching my conversation with Ty Herndon, venue owner Betty Bryan sent me a personal invitation to come and cover her benefit show featuring Herndon with Anita Cochran as the headlining act.

I must admit, I was feeling a bit of shock as I have never experienced this type of request before. Not only was I in for a sensational treat at Bryan’s Hideaway Rock Quarry, she treated me as though I too was a celebrity. From dinner to drinks, Bryan accommodated each of my requests perfectly.

While sitting in the fully stocked trailer waiting for everyone to arrive, excitement and wonder filled the air. Nestled in the mountain just outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee, this rock quarry offered fantastic scenery. There were also many cans of “OFF” bug repellent provided to us, thankfully. I may or may not have used an entire can by myself.

As soon as Lulu Roman from the television show Hee-Haw arrived with her lovely entourage, the party ensued. We laughed, cackled and there were even a few screams from time to time. We ate amazing food and shared wonderful stories with each other. After Herndon and Cochran arrived, the party was immediately kicked into high gear and roars of laughter filled the quaint trailer.

After getting acquainted with everyone and meeting a hero for the first time, the picture taking began. From cell phone selfies to posed group photos, this was a night none of us would soon forget. Great moments were captured, memories were made and fun was had by all who were there for this show benefiting Chattanooga's Fallen Five

With show time fast approaching, we all made our way up to the concert area. A stage created naturally, formed in the quarry, was the perfect place to host such incredible artists. The beauty of the stage combined with the talent that graced it was breathtaking.

Each of the artists connected with the audience in a special and unique way. From stories to jokes, incredible songs and gratitude towards the fans that made the journey, this night was priceless and worth every mile traveled to get there. Do yourself a favor and plan to be at the next show. You never know who you will meet and how many friendships you will form. This was a true blessing to my life and I am so grateful Bryan took the time to invite me and Center Stage Magazine along for the ride.

Do not forget to connect with Herndon, Cochran and Roman on social media. Send them a shout out and tell them all I sent you. ~Missy

About Missy Wolf

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
