CMA Fest Artist Spotlight: Marcus Lindsey
When you are surrounded by musicians, it is evident that music runs deep in your soul. It is bonded to you in a way that many will never be able to understand. It is not a choice. It is simply in your blood and part of what makes you, YOU. This is how I would describe the extremely talented country artist, Marcus Lindsey.
As a young child, Marcus always watched his father play. He also watched his grandfather, who was a fiddle player. Listen to Marcus as he explains who his distant cousin was. It is a pretty amazing story. When Marcus began singing at the early age of 4, it was not a surprise to his family.
After High School, Marcus toured with his band "Deuces Wild." They were able to travel and play in 22 states. Though Deuces Wild ended in 1999, the experience and knowledge gained will forever remain with Marcus. In 2007, his hard work paid off and Marcus won the Terry Award for "Vocalist of the Year." Listen to our full conversation to hear Marcus explain what it was like to earn that award.
Marcus Lindsey has reunited with two of his previous band mates from Deuces Wild along with two other musicians and they are currently playing in the Texas area. We then spoke about their friendship and the talent they each possess. Marcus has such a great voice that I could listen to it all day. His drummer Matt is phenomenal and the rest of the guys (Jeff, Dizzy and Jon) are equally as talented.
With the recent release of his self-titled debut album, it will not be long before Marcus is one of country music's household names. The talent of all these musicians combined is sure to leave a lasting mark on the country music world as well as on the hearts of every fan. These guys are real country. Marcus is one of the best male vocalists I have heard in a while. Listening to his song One Less Fool In Amarillo, I immediately felt like I was back in High School listening to one of the "Top 40" artists, such as John Michael Montgomery, all over again. His voice is strong, powerful and addicting.
Marcus Lindsey will be playing at the Southern Junction (in Texas) for a few upcoming shows and will be opening for Shenandoah. Look them up on social media, download the debut album and enjoy! ~Missy
