“Truth About You” chases “At The End Of A Bar” to the top

It was celebration time for Mitchell Tenpenny on April 14 and a Number One party was the occasion. The party, hosted by BMI, feted Tenpenny along with his cowriters Matt Alderman and Thomas Archer for the success of “Truth About You”.

It was noted during the presentations that not only did “Truth About You” reach No. 1, but it is also part of chart history with the shortest span between #1 songs since 1982 with just three weeks since his last chart-topper.

Memory jogger: It was the Red-Headed Stranger, Willie Nelson, who succeeded himself in consecutive weeks with “Always On My Mind” followed by his duet with Waylon Jennings on “Just To Satisfy You” way back in ’82.

“Truth About You” followed Mitchell’s co-penned chart-topper collaboration with labelmate Chris Young on the ACM Music Event nominated “At The End Of A Bar.”

“Truth About You” has been certified Platinum by RIAA. Tenpenny roared onto the scene with his major label debut single “Drunk Me” which racked up 618 million total on-demand streams and is certified 3X Platinum. “Drunk Me” was included in his Gold-certified debut album Telling All My Secrets which earned him the best first week showing for any major label country debut LP at the time of its release.

In addition to the Number One celebration, it was a whirlwind week for Tenpenny. He has received an ACM Award nomination for “At The End Of A Bar” with Chris Young in the Music Event category. Following the No. 1 party, Tenpenny headed over to Nissan Stadium where he had been invited by headliner Luke Combs to perform as part of an added second stop on Combs’ record-breaking World Tour.  Mitchell’s last performance at Nissan Stadium was an acoustic set during CMA Fest in 2022.

Sponsored by Studio Bank, Music, Arts & Entertainment Executive Ron Cox, presented a donation on behalf of Mitchell and the "Truth About You" songwriters to Mitchell's 10Penny Fund.

Tenpenny’s new album This Is The Heavy contains the platinum-selling #1 hit “Truth About You” and the current single “We Got History.” Listen/stream the album via links at Tenpenny’s website here
