The King Lives On, Nashville Elvis Festival
When you are the baby sister to one of country music's greatest artists, Johnny Cash, the chances are you have some pretty good stories and fond memories. Luckily for me, Joanne Cash agreed to share one of those stories with me on-camera at the Nashville Elvis Festival. Being that I do not like to spoil a good story, you will have to watch our fun video.
Joanne Cash has had an extremely successful music career herself. Her latest album Unbroken serves as her 30th studio album and is filled with great talent including artists Crystal Gayle, The Oak Ridge Boys, Tommy Cash, John Carter-Cash, Lulu Roman, Rosanne Cash, T. Graham Brown, and many others.
In addition to her music, Joanne Cash and her husband Harry Yates pastor the Nashville Cowboy Church at the Texas Troubadour Theatre every Sunday morning at 10:00 am. When I asked her what led to the decision to pastor a church, her response made my heart smile. If you have not yet seen one of their services, I urge you to check it out. The good news for those of you who do not live close enough to attend the church service in person is that this service is broadcast live in over 110 countries via audio and video streams. After our camera stopped rolling, I had a moment to speak with both Joanne and her husband. We shared a few laughs as I recalled the first time I met her (in the women's restroom) and talked about being at her nephew Mark Alan Cash's wedding and what a beautiful ceremony it was. We took a few pictures, hugged, and said "goodbye". I look forward to seeing this sweet soul again soon. ~Missy
