Conversations with Missy: Lit
While many of you recall the band Lit being propelled to rock stardom in the 1990's, some of you may not have been around to experience the high octane performances that thrilled millions of fans across the world.
Recently, Lit performed at The Cowan in Nashville and I was there to experience their new material live. Prior to their highly anticipated performance, I sat with AJay Popoff and Kevin Baldes in the green room for an on-camera conversation to discuss their upcoming album These Are The Days along with some major changes in their career and life.
Though their new music might seem like they have switched gears a bit, Popoff explains that they have always written the type of music they have decided to finally record and why. Writing with some of the best songwriters in Nashville such as Jeffrey Steele and Cory Crowder, Popoff and Baldes explained that they have become great friends and have written many songs together. As Popoff continued to explain that though many of the songs they previously wrote were intended for other artists to cut, after adding his vocals to the demo tracks he realized that recording these tracks as a band was the direction they needed to go.
Popoff further shared with us that it was after finally taking the trip to Nashville with his brother, Jeremy, that he got the bug and started immediately planning his next trip to music city. From songwriting to food, fans to family, social media, and more, both Popoff and Baldes shared some exciting things they have encountered along their journey thus far along with some entertaining information about Baldes that you probably did not know. Watch our full conversation to learn more.
Intrigued even further by our fun conversation, I could not wait to see Lit take the stage.
Their performance was invigorating. Combining their hits with their new music and bringing surprise guest artist Dustin Lynch on stage for an epic version of "Enemy" could not have been more perfect. They lit the entire venue in Nashville up. This was truly a great night that fans will not soon forget.
If you have not yet seen these guys live, make sure you find a show near you soon and go. You will not regret it. Be sure to head over to their website for special opportunities that may be offered and grab their new single "Good Problem To Have" while you are there. Stay tuned for their new album These Are The Days to be dropped on August 10, 2018. ~Missy
