Somewhere On A Beach with Laura: Jimmie Allen

There are new and emerging artists every day in Nashville and just about every city in this country.  The difference between those who get that "big break" and those that do not, in my opinion, are the dreamer and how much they are willing to do in order to achieve that dream and the ability to never remember what they went through to get to where they are today.

I was honored to be able to catch up with one of my favorite new artists, Jimmie Allen, during the 4th annual Carolina Country Music Festival (CCMF)on Myrtle Beach, South Carolina last weekend.

When asked, "Who is Jimmie Allen?" his first adjective is, "A F#@!ing lunatic".  He continues, in a series of videos on his YouTube Page, to describe himself as "Jimmie is someone crazy enough to believe this could happen", "He is ready to be the version of me that 8-year old Jimmie knew I could be".

Allen is signed with BBR Music Group and when asked about his artist, Jon Loba, Executive Vice President of BBR Music, stated: "Everywhere I go when Jimmie Allen is brought up, somebody has a story because he has touched them in some way, shape or form."  This is exactly one of the reasons that I wanted to have the opportunity to talk with Allen.

I first heard him perform during CRS (Country Radio Seminar) in February of this year at a BBR Music Group Party, featuring their new and established artists.  When Allen took the stage with his debut single, "Best Shot", I was absolutely blown away by the talent this young man has.  He was able to immediately draw the attention of the entire crowd at that party.

Allen was slated as the opening performer for CCMF this year and he did the exact same thing as in Nashville a few months earlier.  The audience was much larger, the venue was ten times the size and yet Allen was a seasoned performer on that stage.  The crowd was singing along and enjoying every second of him giving not just his best shot, rather giving them all he had to give for every second of his performance.

After a meet and greet in the iHeartRadio tent, we had a chance to talk quickly before he had to run over to perform on another stage at the venue.

Watch as we talk about his most recent release, "Warrior" and why this song means so much to him.  Admittedly, this is the song that did it for me.  The song that made me a life-long super fan of this talented singer-songwriter.  We also discussed his current, self-titled EP, which contains the debut single, "Best Shot" as well as equally amazing tracks.

We discuss his love of Disney as well, so make sure you check it out to find out which Disney movie and song, respectively, are Allen's favorites.

I could have talked with Allen much longer because there are so many facets to this young man, so that will have to wait until we catch up with him again, which I do hope is soon.

In closing, one thing Allen mentions whenever talking about this dream and his "sticktoitness", he says "not bad for somebody who used to live in his car."  He does give so much credit to his family and all his supporters, including his mother and grandmother, for his ability to stay the course and continue to follow this dream.

Jimmie, Thank you so much for taking the time to talk with me.  Remember what I said when the camera was not rolling, I am so proud to see where you have come to this point and I am so excited to see what happens next!

Make sure you check out all of Allen's social media pages as well as his website, get the music and get to a show near you soon.

About Laura Lou

Laura Lou Journalist

Beginning about age 13, music always been my “safe place”, my “escape”, it became a part of who I am. My background includes being a photographer/journalist for newspapers, magazines and radio stations and more recently I have been an artist manager. What I continue to strive to learn is, what is important to the fans/readers? I find that the answer is always that they want to feel close to the artist they are supporting. The human contact that we all need is something that I want to deliver to anyone that happens to read something I write or see a photograph I shoot. It is important to me to provide that experience, because I am, after all, still always a “fan” and that giddy 13-year-old girl is simply amazed! I never imagined that my passion and love for music would lead me where I am today! I use the hashtag #iamtheluckiestgirliknow because I cannot believe how blessed I am! I’m excited to see “what happens next” and take you all along with me! This is going to be amazing…
