Elvis fans, get ready to go back in time to 1968. As we wrap up our coverage of the 2018 Nashville Elvis Festival, we bring you one of Elvis's most memorable and extremely fun co-stars, Miss Victoria Paige Meyerink.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1968 film Speedway, Meyerink had some special surprises for the audience at the Franklin Theatre. She also had a surprise for me.
As I sat with Meyerink in the dressing room, I had to ask her about co-starring in a film with Elvis and what it was like filming the unforgettable "Hot Dog stealing" scene. What happened next was not something I expected. There seems to have been a rumor about Meyerink eating many hot dogs on set, well, she has now set the record straight by sharing a story about her beloved co-star that I have never heard. Myereink was gearing up to hit the stage with special guest, Cote Deonath to perform the songs from Speedway. As if that were not enough, Meyerink brought with her the very dress she wore in the film and joked that thankfully her mom was a hoarder and kept it safe all these years.
Fans were absolutely in for a real treat. Not only were they able to see Speedway on the big screen, they were able to meet Meyerink, share stories, and pose for pictures. The thrill of participating in an intimate event such as the Nashville Elvis Festival leaves a feeling of euphoria for fans.
Judging by the smile on Meyerinks face, I would have to say that participating in this event brought her a lot of happiness. The love and appreciation she has for Elvis radiate from her smile. While speaking with her, it felt as though Elvis was still very much alive. He has truly left behind a lasting impression on all those who knew and loved him.
