Blackberry Smoke Smoldering On Stage

As implied in the title, smolder is exactly what they did. Standing in the dark, amongst the thick of excitement from all around us, the heat was rising off the crowd that was squished in close at all angles. The palpitations being caused by Blackberry Smoke's riveting presence on stage, created an elevation of pheromones in the air and body movements on the floor, as their music took over and blanketed the crowd.

Southern Rockers Charlie Starr, Paul Jackson, Brit Turner, Brandon Still and Richard Turner, had the multitude of bodies, hip swaying and hand waving in unison. Adding to the (not being alone in) excitement of seeing these long haired, some long bearded, Southern Country Bluesy rockers, that were so damn good, other rock stars showed up in the audience to see their performance too.

Though I was set to catch them last year with a sweet friend, life got in the way and I was unable to see them for the first time, until this night. They hit the stage at the downtown Anaheim House Of Blues, and in short, (speaking with many fans at this show) made everyone's night exactly what they had hoped for. First the heightened excitement of actually seeing Blackberry Smoke live, then the thrills of hearing their favorite songs, and singing them proudly back to the crooners on stage. You could not help but melt into the right mood, and let their sweet sounds rock you away from your own blues, or worries, or whatever you may need a temporary break from, if any at all, as they belted out hits," Pretty Lil Lie", "Rock and Roll Again", "Holy Ghost", "Let Me Help You", their Acoustic version of "Ain't Got the Blues" and of course "Holding All The Roses", the title of their new EP.

Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to get in on their meet and greet, held upstairs before the show, for fans. So I was not able to snag an On The Spot Talk, nor do I believe they would have had the time due to the meet and greet. I am hoping to be abe to speak with them next time. Just dropping a hint now, for the next time I see them. I will see them again.

I honestly feel as if all music people already know, who Blackberry Smoke are, but for those who do not, I recommend you check them out for yourself. Thier rockin' sound will hook into your psyche, and you will want to hear them again and again and again, maybe even as much as I do. I am open in my posts about using music to enhance speech therapy for our child on the spectrum with speech delay, and even she is hooked and has them on her playlist. You will too once you check out their tracks for yourself.

I am Dilly Brigs, saying we had a rockin' great time and will most definitely be seeing Blackberry Smoke again the next time they come back to town. I recommend you do too. They smoked the stage and brought some serious southern rock this night.

About Dilly Brigs

Dilly Brigs Journalist

I am a Funny Cali girl, who grew up being part of a band family of friends (VISITOR) since I was a teen, so I'm no stranger when it comes to the music scene. Though I've held many job titles from, certified florist to writing pitches for sales companies, my career goals changed when I became a mother to a child affected with Autism and Epilepsy. I have since turned my hobby of seeing, sanity saving entertainment and my love of writing into a career. I studied and earned my writing degree with the Institute Of Children's Literature in West Redding, CT.  and later I was recommended and offered the opportunity to continue my studies with their sister school, The Long Ridge Writers Group, also in West Redding, CT. learning to write in adult genre as well. I am proud to now be a writer for Center Stage Magazine and I look forward to bringing the best of the entertainment scene to you.... Our awesome readers, who make this all possible!
