Exclusive Video Premiere "Helplessly Hoping" by Flat River Band
Center Stage Magazine is happy to exclusively premiere an extremely fun new music video from Jeremy McComb that will be sure to thrill your inner child with the help of a very recognizable voice along with some new friends.
Instead of the familiar old dirt roads or backwoods country lanes that often appear in country videos, Average Joes artist Jeremy McComb found some inspiration on a different kind of street for the clip for his new single “Burned Out”, Sesame Street.
“The song really came from us getting back out and playing again. I’ve been hearing it on the road about how burned out everybody is. So it’s about people wanting to get back out and get back to being ourselves, and having fun and taking care of each other, and spending time with people we love and dancing and hearing music. I think that shutdown really showed a lot of people how important being a social animal is…we’re not meant to be apart from each other,” says McComb.
So, where exactly did this concept for the music video come from?
McComb was looking to lighten things up following the frustrating pandemic season of lockdown and all the many complications of daily life over the past two years, so after penning a song about just that with co-writer Rick Huckaby, he searched for an out-of-the-box idea that would match the song’s sentiment of throwing off your troubles. Discovering some puppets in the basement of his record label’s office building, he decided that a Sesame Street vibe would be a perfect idea. With the help of director Julian Mendoza and acclaimed puppeteer Rickey Boyd, who has an amazing resume of credits that includes work on “Sesame Street,” “Lost In Space,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II,” and many others, the “Burned Out” video came to life.
This entertaining approach to a music video is exactly the kind of thing that we all need right now. The use of these muppet friends creates a very lighthearted and entertaining viewing experience for everyone and I admit, my inner child was smiling from ear to ear with sheer delight.
Thank you, Jeremy McComb, Average Joes, and Vanessa Davis for allowing us to be a part of this very special premiere. ~Missy
