Conversations with Missy: Shag Arrington of 'Iron Resurrection'
Women empowerment has taken on a life of its own these days. It has become a mission for so many in various fields. While women's movements are not an entirely new concept, each new step towards progress deserves proper attention. As I sat for a scheduled Zoom interview with Bogi Lateiner of All Girls Garage, I had no idea how much of a connection we would have. Next comes a dilemma.
Trying to find the right words to describe a moment can often be a daunting task. Wanting an article to sound perfect to the audience while realizing that the only way to get through it is by writing from the heart rather than trying to sound completely professional is an overwhelming feeling in addition to it. That being said, I can tell you that I have never felt more empowered to accomplish my dreams and goals than I am now after a heart to heart conversation with Lateiner.
As Lateiner explained what led her to where she is now, along with all the why's, it reminded me that the only one that can stop you from reaching your goals is you. We have heard that a thousand times in life. What was different this time? Listening to Lateiner as she described her journey from the beginning was something I knew everyone could relate to. Fear, self-doubt, a million what if's, and lack of confidence can completely terrify you and keep you from achieving your dreams. You are not alone. Lateiner reminded me that all walks of life experience the same self-doubt and uncertainty at one time or another and that is ok. It is how we tackle those moments that make us who we are.
All women have different roles. We are no different than men. Some of us raise kids alone. Some of us work 9 to 5 in the corporate world, some of us stay home and care for family members, while others share the privilege of serving in our countries military and armed forces. Together we are all strong. We can all accomplish anything as long as we learn to conquer the doubt, fear, and negativity clouding our vision.
After our conversation, I felt refreshed. Lateiner, without knowing it, gave me the courage I needed and validated my feelings of frustration. She simply understood, listened, and reassured me that I could absolutely do anything I set out to do. I encourage you all to take a moment to listen to our entire conversation and push for turning your dreams into reality. Listen as she shares what it was like to open her own all-female garage. Learn from her as she explains her own self-doubt and how she overcame it. Get excited as you begin to see how her story can, in fact, change your life. And best of all, learn how you can join her on the next all-female SEMA build.
I cannot wait to see what Bogi does next. ~Missy
