CRS 2018 with Laura: Darryl Worley

by Laura Lou / 2208 days ago / Comments

It has been a few weeks since Country Radio Seminar 2018 and yet I am still writing articles from the amazing interviews I was blessed to be able to do during this year's event.  There are times in this job that I have the opportunity to have a genuine conversation with artists that I grew up with and that have impacted so many aspects of my life.  There are those certain songs or memories associated with a lyric that I have wanted to say "thank you" to these artists.  This was one of those "I can not believe I am standing here" moments, with the incomparable, Darryl Worley.

Worley is a name that is a staple in country music.  While he is probably best known for such songs as "Awful Beautiful Life", "I Miss My Friend" and "Have You Forgotten", there are so many other factors that make him the success he still is today.  Watch our interview as we discuss the music business in general and the longevity of a successful career.

Worley racked up a total of 18 singles from six albums on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart, three of those reaching the coveted number one spot.  Even with that amount of success, he is just as genuine and humble as an emerging artist with a new single hoping to get it played on the radio.

As all of Worley's fans, I have been waiting for new music because I knew it would be amazing.  "Lonely Alone" is the current single that is available on all platforms for purchase and streaming and is being played on Sirius Satellite Radio Channels, the "Highway" with Stormy Warren as well as "Y2K".  Listen as we discuss this song and the deeply personal connection he has to the lyrics.

Not only is Worley an amazing songwriter, a talented musician and truly moving vocalist, he is very passionate about his faith, family and taking care of others.  His foundation, The Darryl Worley Foundation, has been hard at work to help those who can not help themselves and gives them an opportunity to get a hand up, not a handout.  Encouraging those when they need it the most and caring for others is just a part of who this artist is.  Please take a few moments to check out all that he does with his foundation.

I am so excited to see what Worley has coming up. Be sure you get your copy of the new single, "Lonely Alone" and stay up to date with all that is happening by following him on all social media platforms as well as his website.

On a personal note, Darryl, thank you for your time, remember, "a time for everything under heaven", you are truly one of the most authentic people and it was an honor for me to spend time talking with you.

About Laura Lou

Laura Lou Journalist

Beginning about age 13, music always been my “safe place”, my “escape”, it became a part of who I am. My background includes being a photographer/journalist for newspapers, magazines and radio stations and more recently I have been an artist manager. What I continue to strive to learn is, what is important to the fans/readers? I find that the answer is always that they want to feel close to the artist they are supporting. The human contact that we all need is something that I want to deliver to anyone that happens to read something I write or see a photograph I shoot. It is important to me to provide that experience, because I am, after all, still always a “fan” and that giddy 13-year-old girl is simply amazed! I never imagined that my passion and love for music would lead me where I am today! I use the hashtag #iamtheluckiestgirliknow because I cannot believe how blessed I am! I’m excited to see “what happens next” and take you all along with me! This is going to be amazing…
