Tap Into Indie: Leslie Doak
As we wind down our Tap Into Indie Series, we would like to introduce you to Country Artist Leslie Doak. Doak was one of the many independent artists that came out to participate in our Independent Artist Showcase with partners at Heart Songs Records. This event was graciously hosted by Alley Taps which is located in the iconic Printer's Alley in downtown Nashville during CMA Fest 2017.
After his performance, Doak joined me backstage for a really fun and informative Conversation. Complete with a walk down memory lane, Doak shared that his start in country music came after his time in a "Hair-Metal" band. Seeing this rugged cowboy sitting across from me, I was taken by surprise. I immediately needed my curiosity to be satisfied. Without hesitation, Doak happily agreed to share one of his performance pictures with us. As a special treat for all of you, we were allowed to zoom in on this treasured photo.
As we continued our fun conversation, Doak shared that this was his first CMA Fest performance. The excitement that he felt was special to be a part of. Being from Houston, Texas, Doak is surrounded by a great music scene as well. Though coming to Nashville is something many strive to achieve, being involved in music in an of itself is a huge accomplishment no matter who or where you are. Doak could not help but smile as he shared his love for creating music along with the support he was getting from his friends and family.
If you have not followed Doak, please click on the links below and fix that. This artist has a gift and wants to share it with all of you. Help support other local and independent artists in your area by sharing the artists that we bring you with your friends and family. Each of them works so hard to have their voices heard. As always, feel free to send Doak a shout out on social media and tell him Missy sent you. ~Missy
