Gearing up for his first-ever and self-titled solo release, Harris sat down with me at this year's CMA Fest to discuss his new music. Watching the level of excitement in his eyes as he spoke, I could not help but be elated right along with him. Eager to get his music to fans, Harris held a pre-order sale that enabled fans to immediately receive two songs upon download. Talk about instant satisfaction for the fan.
While getting himself ready for such a big step in his career as a solo artist, Harris has been building quite an impressive resume. Working with Sam Hunt, Jana Kramer, and The Voice winner Cassadee Pope have already been career achievements for Harris. Having had these incredible opportunities have helped prepare him for what comes next, being on his own.
During our conversation, I really wanted to talk with Harris about getting the music from the paper to an album. I think that many fans are completely in the dark about what really goes into creating a great song. Yes, it starts with an idea or melody and lyrics are created, but to translate that into something fans will hear, involves a lot of steps. To get an idea of how much work goes into recording your typical 3 and a half minute song, Harris has created a short and clever video that gives us an inside look into the studio work.
Before we finished our fun chat, I asked Harris what he had coming up in his music career. As soon as he alerted me to his Debut Solo Album Preview, I did that thing I always do and invited myself to come and cover it for him. Being the trooper that he is, he agreed on camera and you are all my witness.
