CMA Fest 2019 with Missy: Drew Baldridge
One of my biggest accomplishments in life has been this career. Not only do I have opportunities that I know others would love to experience, I have been able to form many relationships and bonds with artists in the entertainment industry. One of the first times I heard about Drew Baldridge was when I was conducting an interview with the girls of Southern Halo. Though I had heard of him prior to that moment, it was this one that was the most memorable to me.
The excitement that Southern Halo displayed at a mere passing in a hallway type of experience with Baldridge piqued my curiosity. When I later received an email about interview opportunities with Baldridge during CMA Fest, I jumped at the chance like a lion would jump at an injured Zebra in the wild. Did I think I had a shot at landing such a great interview opportunity? No. With all the media hoping for the same moment I now strongly desired, I thought my chances were slim.
Thankfully, it was in God's plan. I was in. I may or may not have shrieked when I received the confirmation email. CMA Fest was quickly shaping up to be even bigger than I had ever expected it could be for our young magazine. Though I was extremely excited for my first day of interviews inside the "Media Room", I was unexpectedly calm when Baldridge came over.
At our first introduction, I felt as though we were long lost, buddies. He was so much fun and extremely easy to talk to. I even found myself sharing personal stories with him. Like he cares right? Wrong. He was just as invested in my story as I was with his. We laughed and had an amazing time. Maybe it is because Baldridge is from a very small town with an extremely small graduating class, but his outlook and positivity are simply refreshing.
I was tickled when he recalled his memory of meeting Tim McGraw and Faith Hill for the first time. He said he "fan-girled". I could not help but feel his joy. The admiration he has for the Superstar Country Couple is remarkable and genuine. Imagine having someone you look up to saying they want to check out your work. That would be like Leeza Gibbons telling me she wants to watch one of my interviews. How could I not be happy for this kind and amazing artist?
Please be sure to watch our full conversation now and do not forget to grab his latest single "Rebound". If you are a fan of social media, make sure you send him a shout-out as he loves to hear from fans. Tell him I sent you. Oh, and in case you were wondering, right after our interview we heard Souther Halo across the room. We just had to go over and say hello to the girls. That was a moment that I definitely wanted to be a part of and was fortunate to be included in. As always folks, stay tuned for more on Baldridge coming up soon. ~Missy
