One of the greatest gigs on the planet is getting to have fun and fascinating conversations with talented artists. On this particular night, I was delighted when singer/songwriter Clark Hill was brought to Alley Taps during CMA Fest to speak with me.
On the surface, he may seem hard to read, however, underneath that strong exterior is a very gentle and fun-loving man. What you will not see in our conversation is the moment that will forever remain a mystery to our audience. Though it took me a while to regain my composure so that we could officially start filming our conversation, I have to say that I am so glad Hill and I started off in such a fun way.
Getting to know a new artist is often a fun and satisfying experience. There is so much talent at our fingertips and I get to be a part of bringing that talent to you all. Sometimes these artists shock me with their unique personalities. With Hill, I found myself intrigued. There is so much more to this artist than I had time to discover.
While his long-term goal may be a bit vague at this point, watching him explain where he is and the process of getting to that goal captivated me. There is something about his serious approach to it all that made me realize he is onto something bigger than I can imagine. He has the ability to make others think. There is so much more to music than lyrics and collaboration mixed with rejection and victories. He knows what it is going to take. He is serious about doing it all the right way. He is going to lead others to success right along with him. Mark my words. Watch this man's career soar to new heights. He is definitely a very talented and goal driven man.
