As our Tap Into Indie Series continues, Heart Songs Corporation and Centerstage Magazine are proud to bring you Season 7 winner of The Voice, Craig Wayne Boyd. With his already packed CMA Fest schedule, Boyd found a way to be a part of our Independent Artist Showcase in order to delight fans and help our charity of the day.
To say that the crowd at Alley Taps was excited is a bit of an understatement. These extremely loyal and dedicated group of fans were on their feet cheering and screaming for more. Affectionately called the CWBY'alllers, these fans are some of the most amazing fans we have seen. With each and every post we have ever seen about Boyd, these fans are sharing and retweeting almost immediately, making sure their favorite artist is well represented.
While backstage after his performance, I had to talk to Boyd about his loving fans. His appreciation for them did not go unnoticed. I think we were both equally as excited to talk about them and how important they are to him and his blossoming career. We also spoke about Whataburger vs In N Out, watching the CMT awards, Earth Wind and Fire, Keith Urban's message to fans, and how great "horn sections" are. Yes, I told him about my days as a baritone player or as my high school band teacher, Mr. Kanstul called me a "Barely-a-tone" player. We both laughed as Boyd seemed delighted that I too was a band geek. These are the real moments I look forward to during each conversation I have with an artist.
Knowing that Boyd has been working on new music and will be releasing an album in the fall, officially hitting the radio airwaves in September, it was nice to be amongst the first crowd that got to hear some brand new material.
