Bon Aqua Will Come Alive With Two Major Fall Music Festivals!
After spending the first part of our day at the Storytellers Museum interviewing Mark Alan Cash, we headed up to the Johnny Cash farm about a mile up the road in Bon Aqua, Tennessee, where we were going to be interviewing Johnny's younger brother, Tommy Cash.
Upon arriving at this beautiful farm once owned by the "Man In Black", it was easy to see why this property became the center of his world during the 33 years he owned it. Tucked away from the noise and traffic of a bustling city, this slice of paradise offers beauty, tranquility, peace and the most stunning scenery. It is simply breathtaking.
While setting up for my conversation with Tommy Cash, I caught a glimpse of him watching a video of his brother as he stated proudly, "That's my brother". For a moment I felt sad, but I knew that Johnny must be so proud of his family and their efforts to keep his memory alive.
As we sat in the living room, we began discussing Tommy's career. He shared fun stories about his brother and adorned the biggest smile as we spoke about his son Mark. There is no doubt in my mind that the talent in the Cash family is strong and will indeed keep the Cash name at the forefront of the music industry.
As he shared highlights of his career with me, the one memory that seemed to stand out the most for him was the year he toured with his brother in 1976. It was that year he got to know his brother the most. Imagine the fun those two must have had.
Not only is Tommy Cash a fantastic singer himself, he shared that he is also a real estate agent and explained that he was, in fact, the one that showed his brother's beloved farm to the current owner Brian Oxley. We then spoke about what it was like to be able to be a part of this remarkable property again. As you can imagine, Tommy is very happy to be able to connect to his brother again by visiting the Bon Aqua Farm frequently.
In addition to his music and real estate career, Tommy Cash has recently embraced acting. In the 2016 film The River Thief, Tommy plays Marty, the protective grandfather of Selah, played by Raleigh Cain, who has gained the attention of a young thief that has found himself as the target of two vicious killers. In addition to this film, Tommy was also in an episode of the hit CMT series Sun Records. Watch our conversation now for all this and more. ~Missy
