70's Teen Heartthrob set to Retire
Hearts are breaking all over the country as 70’s teen idol David Cassidy has announced his retirement. I was lucky enough to see him in concert when I was 13. It was my very first concert. I attended two more shows when I was much older; the last one was about 4 years ago. It was wonderful. Cassidy was wonderful. My heart still goes pitter-patter when I see reruns of the show, pictures of him on the internet, and hear his songs either on the radio, or my cd player.
Most people remember Cassidy as a teen heartthrob in the early 1970’s when he played Keith Partridge on the hit TV sitcom The Partridge Family. Cassidy went on to become a singer/performer in his own right.
The son of actor Jack Cassidy and actress Evelyn Ward, Cassidy has decided to retire for health reasons. He is fighting a battle with dementia; the same illness his mother died from. Cassidy watched his mother’s failing memory and health and knows he is starting to go through the same symptoms. He also suffers with Arthritis.
According to a message he wrote to his fans on his website, he plans to continue to do a farewell tour of North America, however, he does not plan on performing on the west coast again. He finished a series of concerts this past weekend in California, where he had difficulty remembering the words to some of his songs.
My hope is to see him perform one more time. He brought so much love to our young lives. Sending love and prayers to David Cassidy, my first celebrity crush. ~EllenAnn
