As a relatively new publication, Center Stage Magazine was thrilled to receive an invitation to cover the benefit show for The Hank Cochran PEN Fund. Meeting and getting to have an on-camera conversation with Cochran's daughter Booth Calder Cochran, to explain what the PEN Fund is, was special and a moment I will not soon forget. Her passion for carrying out her father's wishes and creating this non-profit organization speaks volumes as to the kind of woman she is. I immediately fell in love with her humor and could see that she is passionate about helping those in need.

This show was filled with incredibly gifted songwriters/singers. The amount of talent inside the well known 3rd and Lindsley located in Nashville, Tennn. was stellar. From the up and coming 16 year old Payton Smith, to the legendary Jimmy Fortune, the entire venue was filled with excitement and anticipation for each of the acts to take the stage.

Watching stars like Deborah Allen and the band Little Texas ignite the devoted fans was heartwarming and fun. The entire audience seemed as though they were in a state of euphoria. I could not help but smile, seeing everyone so happy, and for a moment free from all stress as they were there to help all songwriters and their families affected by cancer.

Though everyone has the same hopes for a cure to all cancers that plague this earth, one thing was certain, each of these talented artists wanted to lend their talents in an effort to bring some relief to those who are battling this disease. Coming together, joining forces, and rocking the house, it was easy to see that Tennessee really does take care of its own.

Stay tuned for more on this event as we caught up with many of the performers backstage on camera to talk about the event and more! We even captured a live performance specifically for our viewers by the up and coming Smith. Learn his name folks as he is going straight to the top!

About Missy Wolf

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
