We Are The World : 31st Anniversary

April 27, 1985: USA For Africa started a three-week run at No.1 on the US chart with "We Are The World", written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, produced by Quincy Jones and Willie Collins. The all-star lineup included Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Kenny Rogers, James Ingram, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Willie Nelson, Al Jarreau, Bruce Springsteen, Kenny Loggins, Steve Perry, Daryl Hall, Huey Lewis, Cyndi Lauper, Kim Carnes, Bob Dylan, and Ray Charles. The single had sales in excess of 20 million copies and won a variety of awards, including three Grammys, The People's Choice Award, and one American Music Award.
