Conversations with Missy: Marit Larsen

Every day I meet someone with a great story. On April 15, 2016, I met (over the phone) a remarkable young woman from Norway. Marit Larsen is a Pop singer and songwriter with an exceptional voice. Her vocals will entrance you and leave you feeling exalted.

Her fifth EP Joni Was Right is her first release available worldwide. As a tribute to Joni Mitchell, this EP is sure to make you feel inspired. Larsen credits Mitchell with shaping the woman she has become since she was 16 years old. During our conversation, Larsen explained exactly what Mitchell has meant to her and her career over the years.

We spoke about her start in the Pop duo M2M. As a young girl, she formed the band with her best friend and together they released the children’s album Marion & Mariot. The girls were signed to Atlantic Records in 1998 as M2M and sold over two million albums. Listen to our full conversation to hear more on her experience as a successful young Pop Star.

Larsen explained what it was like having so much success at an early age, and how that has helped her make informed choices in her career today. She is looking forward to the many exciting things coming up soon including a show in New York sometime in May, a small club tour in the Fall and recording new music in June 2016.
