Conversations with Missy: Patrick Thomas
Country Singer Patrick Thomas and I recently caught up in Nashville, TN. for an interview. This native of Colleyville, Texas, is a Nashville-based recording artist and was a live finalist on Season 1 of NBC's hit reality TV show The Voice. His audition landed him a 3 chair turn by Adam, Cee Lo and Blake Shelton. As you may have guessed, Patrick chose to be on Team Blake. I asked him how he found out about the new reality show and his answer surprised me.
Prior to meeting Patrick I found myself watching video after video of him. "How did he not win?", I thought to myself as I watched his cover of Adele's "Someone Like You". This guy can really sing and make any song his own. In fact, after watching many of his covers, I realized I like his versions even better. He also has a great music video with the very talented Jenny Gill. The song "Who You Are" is extremely powerful with it's emotional lyrics. The two singing together was simply breathtaking. We talked about what it was like to film that video and again I was surprised by his answer.
Patrick recently made a guest appearance as a music city mentor on the first season of Lifetime Network’s Chasing Nashville. Patrick is not only a singer/songwriter. He is an accomplished pianist and guitarist. From 2011-2013 he was also a staff writer for Cornman Music/Warner Chappell and signed with Brett James (Jesus Take the Wheel and We Went Out Last Night). Patrick also found himself starring in the world premiere of; "The Hank Legacy", produced by Studio Tenn out of Franklin, Tennessee. Currently, Patrick stays busy performing multiple times a week at the Big Bang Dueling Piano Bar in Nashville, Tennessee. Next time you are in Nashville be sure to check him out! I have plans to watch him there my next trip back. You can be sure I will write a review on that as well!
Patrick has performed with the Phoenix and Anchorage Symphonies among others as you will hear in our conversation. It has become a goal to go see him live, so I hope you will join me and find a show near you if you are unable to make it to Nashville. Here are some dates you can look into for now.
