Final tour show will be a star-studded family affair
Say it ain’t so, John Michael!
For a whole generation of John Michael Montgomery fans, it’s hard to believe there won’t be an upcoming JMM concert on the 2026 calendar. However, he has been open about the fact that his 2024-2025 tour schedule would be his last.
Always a class act, John Michael is bringing it back to where it all began for what is likely to be an emotional night as The Road Home Tour makes one last stop for his farewell performance. The memorable night is set for December 12 2025 at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY. General On-Sale tickets for this once-in-a-lifetime show are on sale now, here at Ticketmaster.
The special concert, brought to Rupp Arena by Outback Presents, will be a historical moment capping off the superstar’s illustrious run, but to make it even more special, it will be a complete family affair. John Michael Montgomery will share the stage with his brother Eddie Montgomery (Montgomery Gentry), his son Walker Montgomery, and his son-in-law Travis Denning. The star-studded concert promises to be the event of the year.
“I stepped on a tour bus for the first time in 1992 and haven’t looked back since, but now it’s time to bring it all back home for my last concert and I can’t think of a better place than Rupp Arena,” said John Michael candidly. “I wanted to celebrate this occasion with my family, so I invited some of them to perform with me. We are going to have a lot of fun and end this ride in a big way,” says Montgomery.
On a personal note, John Michael and I first met each other when I was a new intern at Atlantic Records and he was one of the label’s rising stars with a hot album (Life’s A Dance) and hit singles. I recall that a member of his touring road crew was none other than his older brother Eddie who had previously been his bandmate – along with Troy Gentry – in the groups Early Tymz and Young Country!
Several years later we would often run into each other at The Longhorn, now a long-gone hangout for artists and songwriters in Nashville. On one occasion, we were both limping in through the entrance. It was not long after my first knee replacement, and John Michael was also recovering from a recent surgery, so we compared notes about how we were both way too young to be comparing notes about our surgeries!
John Michael was a fixture on the charts in the 1990s with hits like “Life's A Dance,” “I Love The Way You Love Me,” “Sold,” "Be My Baby Tonight,” “I Swear,” and many more, charting a whopping 36 singles throughout his decades-long career, including seven that reached No. 1, and released 11 studio albums amassing millions in sales, and receiving numerous Multi-Platinum and Gold RIAA plaques, as well as countless music industry awards and nominations.

John Michael Montgomery turned an uncanny ability to relate to fans into one of country music's most storied careers. Behind the string of hit records, the roomful of awards and the critical and fan accolades that have defined his phenomenal success lies a connection that goes beyond his undeniable talent and his proven knack for picking hits. He received the CMA Horizon award and was named the ACM's “Top New Vocalist,” setting off a long series of awards that included the CMA's “Single of The Year,” and “Song of the Year,” Billboard's “Top Country Artist,” and a Grammy nomination. The country music icon announced in 2024 that he would officially retire from full-time touring at the end of 2025 with his “The Road Home” Tour.
With the daily grind of touring soon to be a thing of the past, John Michael plans to focus on family, especially becoming a grandfather (to granddaughter Charlotte – care of his daughter Madison and son-in-law Travis) and enjoy a simpler life by owning a camper and spending time in Florida, though there is still a chance that he might do the occasional one-off show. #JohnMichaelMontgomery #Preshias
