This year's Country Radio Seminar felt more like a reunion for many friendships. As I watched every artist walk through the hall in the media wing or even the lobby, there were many handshakes, hugs, and waves. Between artists, their publicist/management team, and journalists, there were very few strangers to anyone. In fact, with the exception of a few, each artist I had on my interview schedule was simply returning for a follow-up conversation.
As Walker Montgomery came to sit with me for our on-camera conversation, I knew the next few minutes were going to be filled with fun and excitement. What I got was far more. Between a few laughs about some people not knowing that his dad John Michael Montgomery is the brother of Eddie Montgomery to Walker's beautiful and very talented sister, this interview was filled with love.
As he was gearing up to release his new single "Like My Daddy Done It" at midnight the day of our interview, Walker explained what the single was about and why it was a song he wanted to record. In addition to talking about his new single, Walker shared his desire for Eddie and John Michael to record "Brotherly Love" (Keith Whitley and Earl Thomas Conley). While I wholeheartedly agree, I also put in my request for three Montgomery men to record a song together as well.
Having recently turned 21 and releasing new music, Walker has had a lot to celebrate in 2020. You definitely need to keep your eyes on him as a rising country music star, as Walker is not slowing down any time soon.
