CRS 2018 with Laura: The Frontmen
"If It Wasn't For The Radio" is the title of a new single released by The Frontmen of country music.
I do not typically start off an article with the title of a single, however, let me explain why I changed it up in this case.
The Frontmen of country music is comprised of Larry Stewart (frontman for Restless Heart), Tim Rushlow (former frontman for Little Texas) and Richie McDonald (frontman for Lonestar). These three artists combined have sold over 30 million records and have 30 major hits.
Back in "the day" the way that fans heard the music that artists produced was simple. Turn on the radio. So many of us grew up always having the radio on, listening for the "Top 10 at 10" or "Top 9 at 9", whatever the case may be, but we would set our cassette (yes, cassette player/recorder) to record those shows that came on so we could go back and listen over and over until we could actually get a physical copy of the new music. Unlike today, we could not access new music by pre-ordering it online, we depended on the radio. Therefore, if it wasn't for radio, so many of the memories we, as fans have would not be there. In saying that, the music that the artist released would not have been heard.
Radio has always played a huge part in our lives and while technology has changed that to some degree, it still does.
These three artists recognize and celebrate that without radio, they would not have had the success they did originally or the continued success they have now. These songs, respectively, that have been moments in people's lives such as weddings, funerals, and engagements, may not have ever been heard. That is something I can not imagine.
While they are continuing to tour with their bands, they are working on new music as The Frontmen and are touring as the trio as well.
Make sure you check out our conversation and hear why this single along with this transformation is so important to them.
Follow them on social media and check out a show at a venue near you soon. If you have not had a chance to check out Restless Heart, Lonestar and Little Texas, do that as well.
Thank you Frontmen for taking the time to talk with us during Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, it was an honor for me as a fan of all your work as well as a journalist to tell everyone about the new projects. I can not wait to see what happens next.
