CRS 2018 with Missy: Ashla Taylor
As we continue to bring you our coverage of CRS 2018, I have the pleasure of kicking things off with Ashla Taylor.
From the first moment I began my research on this young singer/songwriter, actress, and television host, I knew she was special. On one of her social media pages, I encountered a video of her singing with her Nana. In that beautiful moment, I was taken back to familiar and quite missed memories with my own grandmother. The moment Taylor forever captured on film brought immediate tears to my eyes and flooded my heart with warmth and fond memories. As you can imagine, the feelings inside of me were so strong that I could not begin our interview without first mentioning the heartwarming video I watched.
Catching Taylor off-guard was not my intent, however, that was the result. I knew her Nana was a special woman and maybe that is why I felt so strongly that I had to speak to her about that remarkable video. Perhaps it was her Nana that wanted her to know she was, in fact, proud of all Taylor has accomplished. In any case, Taylor's Nana was very present during our interview as we both fought back the tears that were ready to flow from our eyes. As Taylor explained that it was her Nana who supported her path and continued to push her when she felt like quitting, she smiled with a sense of pure love, gratitude, and appreciation.
There was another video Taylor had posted on social media that caught my attention. In this video, Taylor's performance at The Sutler had country legend Randy Travis and his family plastered with smiles on their faces. Watching the video of this special performance was pure joy. I would have loved to have been in that room. As Taylor recalled this moment in her career, she lit up with excitement. She also described a fun experience meeting another country legend, Vince Gill. As she explained how the encounter took place, I could not help but laugh. You just never know who you are going to run into in Nashville. Watch our full conversation now for all the fun details.
As we continued our conversation, Taylor spoke about her influences and what it was like to portray the one and only Shania Twain in the Docu/Drama on the REELZ Channel Price Of Fame. To think that after seeing Twain in concert at just 8 years old that she would then be playing her on television is a complete dream. Taylor is indeed proof that dreams do come true. Though Taylor has not yet met Twain, I have a pretty good feeling it is only a matter of time before these two strong female vocalists have the chance to connect.
