Conversations with Missy: Catt McCreary

Recently I had the privilege of speaking with a young yet very strong vocalist, Catt McCreary. Having the ability to sing rock, pop or blues, gives her an advantage as she is able to create her own unique style.

I was immediately impressed with this young artist. Her song “One of a Kind” demonstrates her strong vocals though it is her song “String of Lies” that I found myself enjoying the most as it showcases her ability to sing the blues. Her ability to incorporate different styles of music into her songs is terrific.

During our conversation, we spoke about McCreary’s move to Atlanta, Georgia in 2012. She began releasing singles in 2014, showing the music world that she was ready to stand out in the crowd. She definitely does.

While watching her videos, I came across her version of “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5. Her take on it was brilliant. I had to talk to her about it as I loved her rendition of it. We talked about this along with her experience recording with session musicians and more. Check out her bio (taken from her website) below to learn more about this amazing young female artist.

“Singer/songwriter, Catt McCreary creates a sound viewed as a fusion of blues-rock and pop. Catt moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 2012 to pursue her music career. Now, at age 18, she has developed a following who describe her vocals as having “distinct tone” and “an old soul”. Catt is always excited to play with a full band or as a soloist accompanying herself on the piano or guitar. As a trained percussionist, she also enjoys being creative rhythms. Catt began releasing her singles October 2014, starting with Home, a ballad. She performs in Atlanta and surrounding areas, in addition to her high school’s Duke Ellington Jazz Band. Near to Catt's heart is performing for charities and fundraising campaigns. Catt has earned musical recognition which includes being named a winner of the 2015 National Youngarts Merit Awards vocal/popular, a 2015 Walt Disney World Festival Outstanding Soloist, and a Merit Award from Interlochen Performing Arts Academy for singer/songwriter. Catt's upbeat personality and passion for sharing music on stage will make you want to "stay tuned"!?”

I encourage you all to get to know McCreary. Please follow her on social media, watch her videos, download her music and stay tuned to her website for upcoming shows and music releases. Be sure to listen to our full conversation now. This artist has a lot to offer and is only going up from here. I cannot wait to see where she goes next. Watch her journey with us. ~Missy

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
