Conversations with Missy: Alexis Taylor
Growing up in Canada, Alexis Taylor never imagined in a million years that she would move to Nashville, Tennessee. Yet, that is exactly what she has done to pursue her career as a rising country star. With the support of her musically gifted parents, Taylor took a leap of faith and is chasing her dreams.
I discovered Taylor on Twitter. There is an abundance of great music outside the radio stations that seem to only play the top 40. Center Stage Magazine is always looking for new and undiscovered talent to share. Finding Taylor’s song “Until I See You Again” struck my core. I knew I needed to interview this gifted soul.
Without hesitation, I reached out to her and she happily agreed to speak with me. I was looking forward to our conversation knowing it could also be an emotional one. Hearing her voice on the other end of the line, I knew we were going to have a great conversation. We did. I asked her about the song that drew me to her.
“Until I See You Again” is an emotional song about the loss of a child. Many of us have suffered this loss or know someone who has. I am one of them, so this song spoke to me and spoke for me. Listen to our conversation to hear how this song came about and who it was written for. It is a beautiful and touching story. You may need to have some Kleenex handy.
Taylor and I spoke about several things coming up including an ongoing cause that she states is “Under-looked,” helping our country’s veterans. Heart Songs for Veterans is a wonderful cause that helps servicemen and veterans and their families. Artists like Taylor donate songs to the organization and the money raised from the sales of these songs directly benefit those veterans in need. We spoke about the importance of this cause, how she met Founder of Heart Songs for Veterans, Jill Pavel and what it means to her to be a part of it.
Coming up for Taylor this summer is her EP release of five original tracks. Stay tuned for that and more by checking out her website and following her on social media. Now if you have not yet listened to our conversation, please hit play. Then you can watch the videos below. You will be glad you did, so you are welcome. ~Missy
