Conversations with Missy: J.D. Shelburne

by Missy Wolf / 3157 days ago / Comments

Recently, I had the pleasure of talking to one of Kentucky’s fastest rising stars. J.D. Shelburne is a small town star that is making a huge name for himself in the country music world. Performing with over 50 national acts such as Montgomery Gentry, Steve Wariner, and Wade Hayes, Shelburne has gained fans by the thousands.

While looking at his tour schedule, I realized that Shelburne is one of the busiest musicians I have spoken to. He has played over 1,000 shows and 500 festivals. I had to ask him about it, as I was impressed by the number of shows this talented man is able to do. What I did not expect to hear him say is how all this has been possible. Listen to our conversation to find out what I mean. Shelburne works extremely hard and has impressed Center Stage Magazine Staff.

Shelburne has also earned many impressive credits. One of these credits includes debuting as the number one trending artist on CMT.com, beating out Taylor Swift and Luke Bryan. I wanted to know what that moment was like for him, as I was excited myself. I do not think he expected it though I know he is grateful. Another credit that I needed to talk with him about was his experience performing “My Old Kentucky Home” in the state's capitol. Listen to our conversation now to hear him describe this amazing and special moment in his career. I was overcome with joy for him as he shared this experience with me.

Shelburne has a great personality and a fun side to him that is infectious. See what I mean by looking at his pictures on social media. One picture I came across is a picture of the cast of Saved by The Bell. I did not see a description, but I knew there was a story behind it. I was right. I am not giving this moment away, so you need to listen to Shelburne describe it. We continued to laugh during our conversation as we both shared stories. I even felt compelled to share my Kip Moore story with him. Ironically, he was performing with Moore two days after our conversation. Yes, I am still determined to get that interview too.

Using his talent and abilities as a human being to help those in need is also important to Shelburne. Teaming up with others to help families at Christmas is heartwarming and special in so many ways. Shelburne is committed to giving back and helping families in need and has been doing an amazing job. I have to admit, I got a little emotional while discussing this with him. Overall, I completely adore this genuine and kind hearted man.

I could go on and on about the many wonderful things Shelburne has to offer the music world. For now, please download his music or buy his CD Hometown from his website now. Watch his video for it as well. Listen to the lyrics as they will connect you to Shelburne. His music is real, his stories will move you and his passion cannot be denied. Be sure to follow him on social media to stay connected with everything he has coming up. If you live in or near Nashville, you will not want to miss his show on April 10, 2016, at the Tequila Cowboy. Listen, like, love and share this extraordinary talent with everyone you know. ~Missy

About Missy Wolf

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
