Mark Slaughter Album Review 'Halfway There'
Starting out as the frontman for Xcursion, later joining Vinnie Vincent Invasion, it was only a matter of time before Mark Slaughter formed Slaughter, along with Dana Strum, and began a musical journey that left girls screaming for more and guys partying hours on end.
Imagine going on tour with Kiss, Poison, Ozzy Osbourne and Damn Yankees. The stories that come with that are no doubt amazing. Many of you may recall the music video for "Shout it Out," on the soundtrack of Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. That is the memory that stands out the most for me. That video captures the fun personality of Slaughter and showcases his outstanding ability to reach notes that seem impossible to hit. During our conversation, we spoke about the days past and what he has been up to since.
Slaughter released his first solo album in January 2015 titled Reflections in a Rear View Mirror. The fans have been going crazy for this release and I cannot blame them. I have my favorite narrowed down to three tracks. "Don't Turn Away" is one of them. The lyrics, the style, the sound; all timeless.
What I discovered about Slaughter that left me intrigued is his Charity work and, in addition to his music, he is also a voice actor. Listen to our full conversation for more. Slaughter is an artist with a passion for his craft and also helping others. He works with St. Judes Children Hospital using his talent to help those in need which is remarkable.
Slaughter also likes to involve his fans. In a recent contest he ran on Facebook, Slaughter awarded ten lucky fans an autographed copy of his solo release Reflections in a Rear View Mirror along with two sets of guitar picks. Fans immediately took on the challenge of replicating the album cover for a chance at one of the coveted prizes. One fan, named Eliza, stood out to me. She had been faced with some difficult life challenges, but seeing Slaughter tell her that she won elated her. She immediately thanked him and explained that the smile it brought to her was a needed one and she was going to get through.
