Planet Comicon Kansas City 2026: A Weekend of Cosplay, Celebrities, and Fandom at its Finest

This past weekend (March 27-29, 2026), Kansas City’s Convention Center once again became the ultimate destination for fans as Planet Comicon delivered an epic three days filled with incredible cosplay, star-studded guests, and an electric atmosphere.

The exhibit hall was bursting with energy from the moment the doors opened. Thousands of attendees showed up in stunning cosplays — from detailed Marvel and DC heroes to creative anime and original characters. The vendor floor offered everything from rare comics and exclusive merch to beautiful artwork and collectibles, making it easy to lose track of time (and money).

The celebrity guest lineup was truly star-studded. Highlights included Lord of the Rings stars Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, and John Rhys-Davies reuniting for memorable meet-and-greets and panels, alongside cinema legend William Shatner (Star Trek), Kiefer Sutherland (24, The Lost Boys), Priscilla Presley (Dallas, The Naked Gun), and Keith David (They Live, The Princess and the Frog). Additional big draws were Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), Lou Diamond Phillips (Longmire, Young Guns), Famke Janssen (X-Men, GoldenEye), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, Star Trek: Discovery), Tom Welling (Smallville), and a Twilight reunion featuring Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone, Kellan Lutz, and Peter Facinelli. The weekend also welcomed Jared Padalecki, Mark Pellegrino, and Samantha Smith from Supernatural, along with voice and screen talent like Maggie Grace, Gabriel Luna, Carl Lumbly, Garrett Hedlund, and Alex Winter — plus many more actors, voice artists, and special guests who made the event unforgettable.

Fans got the chance to meet big names from film, TV, and comics, snag autographs, and attend panels ranging from heartfelt behind-the-scenes stories to hilarious Q&As. Special programming throughout the weekend kept the excitement high, from high-energy photo ops and workshops to the ever-popular costume contest. The atmosphere felt welcoming and inclusive for longtime attendees and first-timers alike.

What truly stood out this year was the exceptional organization of the panels. The volunteer staff assigned to the panels executed a flawless experience for everyone in attendance. From thoughtfully grouping guests into lines and sections, they maintained clear walkways for fans walking through the halls to enjoy other events and activities. The organization of fans eager to ask questions at each panel was equally impressive.

For such a large convention with thousands of attendees, the panels ran smoother than any other convention of this size we’ve experienced. We usually prefer smaller conventions for this reason, but Planet Comicon impressed us with its ability to manage large crowds while keeping the panel experience intimate and engaging. It created an unforgettable experience for the thousands of fans who waited patiently in line to see their favorite guests answer thoughtful questions and share never-before-heard stories.

Planet Comicon continues to grow each year while maintaining that perfect balance of big-con scale with approachable, friendly Midwest vibes. Whether you came for the comics, the cosplay, the celebrities, or just to geek out with fellow fans, this year’s event delivered on every level.

I’m so glad we were able to witness the magic that captivated so many in Kansas City this weekend. I cannot wait to do it all again next year! ~Missy

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
