CMA Fest 2019 with Missy: Matt Rogers
Having the opportunity to interview an artist that is brand new to me is always exciting. Usually, I have so many questions for them that I often find it difficult to keep our conversation within the time allotted. Thankfully Austin Machado, Davis Forney, and Michael Stevens of Leaving Austin did not mind being my last victim of the day during day two of CMA Fest.
Being that they are all from California and it was their first time at Nashville's Country Music Festival, I had to ask them how the four-day music festival was so far, including being so far from their family, children, and even a new wife. What I did not expect to hear was how often the guys are actually away from home to write/record in Nashville. To say that I was impressed is an understatement. I absolutely respect their hard work and dedication to pursuing their dream.
One thing that stood out to me the most about these three friends was their infectious personalities. Their stories made me want to get to know them even more. Once fans get a taste of what Leaving Austin has to offer, they will immediately want more. Do not take my word for it. Go grab their latest EP Southern Gold and check out their music video for the single "Nothing But You". After that, share them with your friends and add them to your playlist.
Be sure to follow Leaving Austin on social media as well as heading over to their website for all the latest news and show information after you watch our full conversation. ~Missy
About CMA Fest
The Ultimate Country Music Fan Experience™ began in 1972 as Fan Fair®, which drew 5,000 fans to Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium. Now in its 48th year, the legendary festival has become the city’s signature Country Music event that hosts tens of thousands of fans from all 50 states, Puerto Rico and 37 international countries. In 2019, CMA Fest featured 11 official stages with hundreds of artists performing—all to benefit music education. CMA Fest is a one-of-a-kind festival with artists donating their time to perform so ticket proceeds can directly benefit high-quality music programs across the country through the CMA Foundation. CMA Fest is filmed for a primetime ABC Television Network special airing Sunday, Aug. 4, with 2019 marking the 16th consecutive year the event has been filmed for television, a feat no other music festival has achieved.
