Exclusive Premiere of Kelly Lang's "Down In Destin"
When it comes to Tennessee, there is no shortage of talented musicians. These artists are incredible. Sometimes, these artists have the ability to blow your mind with a song, lyric, or even a simple story. When it comes to Kelly Lang, she did all of that for me.
Lang has been in the music industry basically her entire life. Writing her first song in the bathtub about Delta Faucets to the tune of "Delta Dawn" at 6 years old was a clear indication that music is in her blood.
One of the perks of having a father who was also the road manager for Conway Twitty was being surrounded by great music and opportunities that though may not have been obvious to her as a child, she now sees clearly as an adult. Watching her recall her childhood with a deep level of appreciation and gratitude in her eyes was beautiful. It is always fascinating to look back and see where you were and realize how far you have come. These "Full-circle" moments are priceless.
During our conversation, Lang shared with me some very fun, real, and even creepy moments that have occurred during her career. We spoke about Marty Stuart, Waffle House, Elvis Radio, Priscila Presley, Elvis, and more. We laughed and genuinely had a great time getting to know each other better while we shared these stories. Be sure to watch our full conversation now to hear all about these amazing moments.
As some of you may know, Lang is married to country music icon T.G. Sheppard. Sheppard is one of my favorite men of all time and I was so delighted when he gave me this amazing opportunity to come to their home and sit with his extremely lovely and talented wife. I immediately fell in love with Lang's personality and warm heart. Her voice is angelic and her lyrics are powerful. What captured me completely was her video "Goodbye Darling" that pays tribute to Twitty and the love she had for the man who was in all actuality a part of her family.
Lang is a very gifted artist that has had so many amazing experiences in her music career. She even shared the stage with Barry Gibb singing "Islands In The Stream" by Kenny Rogers as Rogers was inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. That is just one of the many wonderful experiences Lang has been fortunate enough to have, and we know that there are much more on the way. I could spend the next few days writing about the full experience I had with Lang, but I will let the video speak for itself.
There will be a lot more footage of Lang coming up soon. This Saturday, July 1, 2017, Lang will be performing alongside Sheppard at The Guest House at Graceland. If you recall, I invited myself during my conversation with Sheppard at the Nashville Elvis Festival. Thankfully, Center Stage Magazine has been given the opportunity to be there and we could not be happier. We will be bringing you that footage and more very soon.
I am extremely blessed to be able to now call Lang and Sheppard my friends. They are truly remarkable people and their stories are captivating. Through it all, they have both remained true to who they are, loving, and kind. They are an inspiration to many and a great example for all to follow.
