Conversations with Missy: Jessie G

When you think of working on a farm, what comes to mind? In country music, the reference to working on a farm mostly involves tractors and a lot of hard work. For Jessie G (Goergen), working on a farm was an entirely different experience. Her farm was the Pacific Ocean.

Inspired by the stories of hard work in country music songs, Goergen found herself relating to the lyrics. Growing up in a small town in Oregon and working in the commercial fishing industry taught her the value of hard work. Still, it was her love of country music that coursed through her veins.

Goergen participated in choir and many singing competitions. In college, she studied music and worked extremely hard trying to find her voice. After landing the opportunity to open for National Recording Artist, Gretchen Wilson, Goergen’s music career took an amazing turn.

Wilson believed in Goergen’s talent and told her she would work with her if she ever found herself in Nashville. Goergen has since made the move from Oregon to Nashville and began working with Wilson. During our conversation, we spoke about what this experience has been like for her, her upcoming debut EP and her Kickstarter campaign. Watch our video now and get to know this awe-inspiring new artist.

Her debut single, “Drop A Line”, is available for preorder now and will be released on April 4, 2016.  This country rock artist also has a jazz influence, which has helped her create her unique style and sound that everyone is sure to love. Connect with her on social media, send her a shout out and per-order “Drop A Line” now. ~Missy

About Missy Wolf

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
