Dolly Parton was laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville, according to The Boot. Her burial came three days after she died on Aug. 25. She was interred next to her husband, Carl Dean, who died in March 2025. The BBC reported that Parton was 80.

According to the BBC, Parton's family held a private funeral for her in Nashville on Friday, and her great-niece, Lainey Parton, confirmed she had been laid to rest. Lainey Parton shared the news in an Instagram post on Saturday, the day after the funeral, WSMV reported. In her tribute, she wrote, "It still doesn't feel real that she's gone," HOLA! USA reported.

The Boot reported that the couple's memorial site is inside the mausoleum. It has a plaque showing the mountain home where Parton was raised. The BBC reported that a NewsChannel 5 reporter posted photos of flowers and a condolence book at the tomb. The Boot said the site is open for public visitation and that visitors can sign a guest book in her memory.

The BBC also reported that the Grand Ole Opry held a tribute concert on Saturday. Her online obituary remembered her music and songwriting, as well as her wit, warmth and kindness, according to WSMV. Global News described the obituary as the cemetery's.

Woodlawn is also the burial site of country artists including George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Johnny Paycheck and Porter Wagoner, The Boot reported.

On Sept. 2, Dollywood Parks & Resorts announced plans to create new experiences and installations to honor Parton. Her official website published an official announcement of her passing.
