Plus live Christmas stage shows at Dollywood and in London

When Dolly Parton (or her peeps) ask if you’d like to be part of her Christmas TV spectacular, the celebs say, “How soon can I be there?”

We’re talking about NBC-TV’s Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas with a broadcast date to be revealed later.  Jimmy Fallon, Willie Nelson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmie Allen, Zach Williams and Miley Cyrus have all signed on to guest star.

Dolly Parton will naturally take the lead role in the film that will star Tom Everett Scott, Ana Gasteyer and Angel Parker. The plot revolves around the making of a network TV special - Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas – and the action takes place backstage as everyone strives to come together and make real Dolly’s goal of uplifting an exhausted world’s spirits by sharing the unique “mountain magic” she has always found in and around Dollywood at Christmastime.

Viewers will get to see both the rehearsal chaos and the resulting production numbers. Early reports state that Dolly finds herself taking a private journey into her past, guided by the mysterious appearances of her personal Three Wise Mountain Men. When it’s time for her big special to air, a renewed and inspired Dolly goes rogue and shows the world that the real magic of Christmas lies in the hearts of the children we all once were, the realization that Christmas is about the people we share it with, and how her faith remains the common thread between Christmases past, present, and future.

But Wait! There’s more…

Dolly is celebrating the Christmas Season on both sides of the Atlantic.  In Tennessee, Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas presented by Humana lights up the sky with the glimmer of more than five million twinkling lights and the sounds of award-winning rides. Visitors can enjoy a ‘Christmas of many colors’ with a stroll through the park and a visit to Santa’s Village. Then on to Glacier Ridge that tells the story of Polar Bear visiting his cousin Black Bear for the Holidays. And then, of course, Dollywood will stage family shows such as “Christmas in the Smokies,” “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and “Appalachian Christmas.”  Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas runs November 5, 2022 through January 1, 2023. Meanwhile, if you feel like celebrating Christmas in jolly old England but still need your Dolly fix, make plans to fly over and catch Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol. The all-new musical, live on stage, presents Charles Dickens’ classic tale with a Tennessee twist. The production imagines Ebenezer Scrooge as the owner of a mining company town, where his callous greed blinds him to the joys and gifts of the season.  Music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, but as the small print points out, “Dolly Parton will not feature live in this production.”

The show is scheduled for December 8, 2022 through January 8, 2023 at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, London.  Info and tickets here
