Stagecoach Festival Indio, California: Day 1
As we made our arrival to Indio, California to attend Stagecoach 2016, Tommy Lemon and I had no idea what we were in store for. Color coded pathways (1.3 miles long from the car to the gate), countless fans planning their day, food vendors, clothing and merchandise vendors along with activity booths all made for an exciting beginning to our 3-day event.
Day one of the event was a success. Having the entire day to explore and cover artist performances without a strict schedule was perfect. The main stage for this event is unlike anything I have ever seen. There are reserved seating sections, reserved general admission sections, ADA sections, general admission sections that allow chairs and blankets and some that do not. For the newcomer, this could be very overwhelming, though fun.
While at the Mane Stage, each photographer was led to the front of the stage and allowed to capture photos during the first three songs of each artist's performance. Having this opportunity made for some amazing moments to share, such as Kristian Bush in mid-air.
Bush as always gave an exciting performance. He continues to display his playful side while on the stage. Fans were engaged and cheered in approval. Hearing him sing songs recorded by Sugarland, offered fans the opportunity to gain a new perspective. His talent is undeniable and his ability to deliver the fans a spectacular show is thrilling.
When Jana Kramer hit the stage the crowd went wild. I was immediately jealous. Did she or did she not just have a baby? How can she look that amazing? She was on fire. Her energy was infectious. Her passion for being on that stage performing for thousands of fans shined through each beat. Her mission to give fans what they wanted, complete.
We decided to head to the Mustang Stage to catch Cody Jinks, Marty Stuart, and Billy Joe Shaver. Each of them unique and equally as entertaining. I cannot put into words the funny personality of Shaver. He had the entire audience laughing at his wild and feisty side. Stuart, as usual, was dressed sharp and ready for a good time. The ladies were screaming and ready for him to rock that stage. Jinks simply was fresh and had an incredible sound that when combined with his personality and overall look, made the fans crave more.
As the day progressed I became increasingly excited to see Chris Young. We headed back over to the Mane Stage where Sam Hunt would be playing prior to Young. Hunt put on quite a show and had the audience screaming in sheer shock at his surprise guest, Snoop Dogg. I admit, I was gitty myself. I absolutely adore that man. Hunt sang his recent hits and fans were elated to be there for this unexpectedly surprising show.
To top off my first day at Stagecoach was the moment I have been waiting for. Young took the stage and I was instantly glued. His voice was spot on. He was as happy to be here as his fans were. His genuine smile and gratitude for fans are touching to see. As if the fans were not showered with enough surprises already, Young brought out Cassadee Pope to join him on stage for his latest hit "Think of You". I have not heard so many screams in one night. This artist is one that has it all. He does not disappoint and leaves his fans with a feeling of euphoria that is sure to be long lasting. What a fabulous end to my first day at Stagecoach. Stay tuned...~Missy
