Women Taking Over the Music World

We hear it a lot these days that there is a need for women in country music. While most will agree that is true, I say we are in need of more talented women in all music! Lucky for Nashville a movement has been started. WIM, Women In Music, was created by women with a passion for life, music and supporting others. Here is a taste of what you can experience with WIM.

"The Nashville division of Women in Music (WIMNashville) is an organization started by women, run by women and for women in the business of music. Founded by Charissa Nicole and Mindy McQ, WIM's intention is to create a voice and a sisterhood for women in music by hosting WIM events where artists are given the opportunity to be heard, inspired and celebrated in an environment free from the pressures of an industry run by men. We believe that women in music need to feel powerful and fearless, and should not feel the need to conform or compete in order to be noticed. Like all art, our uniqueness is what makes us beautiful. Our women are talented, they are diverse and they are committed to their art. From singers to songwriters, musicians, hosts, DJ's and everything in between, we do it all!! We hold writer's rounds, full band showcases, and fully hosted/run events. Our hope is to provide a platform for all women who are looking for opportunity in music. To find out where you can catch the next WIM night, please visit our EVENTS page and join us on social media. Or, for booking and inquiries, please visit our CONTACT page. If you are interested in getting involved, shoot us an e-mail! We feature new artists every chance we get, and we'd love to hear from you!!

Be fearless. Stay inspired. Stay focused, and above all, love one another!

At their first show,  held at “The Country” in Nashville on December 3, 2015, Centerstagemag.com was lucky enough to be invited to capture footage of each of these extremely talented women. Comedian Brad Sativa started the night off with some great laughs before the women took the stage. The amount of talent between them was refreshing. Unplugged and raw, it definitely showcased each artist's vocal and songwriting abilities

The performers for the first show were (in this order), Kalii Palmer, Jessica Vasquez, Juliet Weybret, Raihanna Estrada, Mindy McQ, and Charissa Nicole. Each of them different. Each of them remarkable. Watch our video to get a taste of what you can expect when you come out to their next performance Tuesday, December 15 at The Bridge in the Renaissance Nashville Hotel.

For more information on this new and much needed movement, please visit their homepage and follow them on social media. ~Missy

About Missy Wolf

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
