Conversations with Missy: Jake Slater, Nashville Elvis Festival

As we continue to bring you highlights of this year's Nashville Elvis Festival hosted by Tom Brown at The Franklin Theatre, I want to stress to all of you that the level of talent these Elvis Tribute Artists (ETAs) have is extraordinary. The knowledge they possess on knowing which jumpsuit goes with what jewelry and which performance is simply impeccable.

ETA Jake Slater is definitely one that possesses the drive, passion, respect, and knowledge to pay tribute to "The King" in a way that honors his legacy and fans across the world. As I sat with Slater to discuss his journey becoming an Elvis Tribute Artist, I was surprised to discover that his decision stemmed from a series of unexpected events.

Admitting that he never imagined being on a stage performing as he was shy in the past, struck me odd as he looks so natural on stage paying tribute to Elvis. Watch our full conversation to learn what took place, leading Slater to embark on this magical journey of bringing "The King" to life for fans everywhere to see.

As we continued our conversation, Slater made it clear that Elvis was more than just a "Celebrity" icon. As he shared his experiences performing on stage, Slater could not help but talk about the fans and friends that Elvis made along the way. Capturing those moments and hearing the stories from those who loved and adored Elvis is truly special to Slater.

The legacy that Elvis left behind is far greater than anyone could have ever imagined it would be. For those who never had the chance to see Elvis perform in person, attending a show featuring an Elvis Tribute Artist is a must. For a brief moment, it is as if "The King" has returned in all his glory. The fans still scream, cry, laugh, and simply burst with excitement for the chance to have a photo taken with an ETA that brings them closer to the legend they lost so many years ago.

About Missy Wolf

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
