Conversations with Missy: Terry McBride

Chances are if you do not know Terry McBride, you know his work. The brilliant songwriter has an impressive catalogue of songs that anyone would be proud to have credit for. McBride has written for country royalty, newcomers, legends, and more. From Garth Brooks, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Hank Williams Jr., Ronnie Dunn, Kix Brooks, Alan Jackson, and Trace Adkins to Easton Corbin, Lost Frequencies, Cole Swindell, Chase Bryant, Clare Dunn, George Ducas, Wade Hayes, Gretchen Wilson, Andy Griggs, and Jason Michael Carroll just to name a few, McBride has written for just about everyone in the business. Having over 25 songs recorded by Brooks & Dunn has got to be a record.

The awards that have come from his superb writing skills are definitely well-earned. Prior to our conversation, McBride showed me a few of the awards he was presented that are beautifully displayed inside his quaint writing cottage. While giving me the grand tour, Mcbride also showed me the first leather belt he received as a child along with a small pair of cowboy boots that not doubt had been happily worn by him at a young age. This cottage seemed the perfect location for inspiration to write his next masterpiece.

Just before we began rolling our camera, McBride and I shared many laughs and fun stories. While in his presence, it felt like we have been friends for years. Knowing that this business can be brutal as I often say, it is always refreshing when you meet an artist who continues to stay true to themselves and their craft.

After watching our video, please make sure you follow McBride on social media. Check out his website for all his latest show dates, and download his latest EP Hotels And Highways. Enjoy the video above, I know you will have as good of a time as we both did. ~Missy

About Missy Wolf

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
