Although March Madness is drawing to a close today April 3 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona; the party continued all weekend in the Phoenix Metro area.
Margaret T Hance Park, 32 acres in downtown Phoenix, is the site for the March Madness Music Festival. The festival is three consecutive nights of free concerts, beginning Friday, March 31st. The purpose of the festival is to thank the City of Phoenix and the residents for hosting the NCAA Final Four.
Musicians included Academy of Country Music Awards nominee Keith Urban, country crooner Justin Moore, The Head and The Heart, and country singer Michael Ray at Friday’s AT&T Block Party. On Saturday, Coca Cola hosted Grammy nominees The Chainsmokers, the energizing band, Grouplove, soul singer Leon Bridges, and the indie-elctro band,Capital Cities. The Capital One Jam Fest on Sunday included Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Aerosmith, Grammy Award-winning Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, punk rockers Blink 182, and the soulful Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats. All concerts were FREE but seating was on a first come basis.
The Phoenix Convention Center was home to the Final Four Fan Fest which transformed the center into a huge family friendly experience with sports themed events and games. There was also a life-size 3-D bracket so you could take a selfie next to your favorite team’s name.
Not only were these two huge events going on, the Phoenix Suns and Coyotes also played this weekend. Baseball season is now underway. The Arizona Diamondbacks’ home opener was Sunday. Whoever said the desert is boring?!
